Catching Up- Jan 2011

I’m FINALLY getting some BLOGGING done. I’ve been trying to catch up and finally have 2010 finished. Now its time to get up to speed on 2011. I blogged about our New Years events a few months ago so we’ll pick up just after New Years!

SNOW IN SO CAL

The Sunday after New Years, just a few days before the kids were supposed to go back to school, we were sitting in Sunday School and we looked out the window to see big huge white snowflakes falling from the sky! Everyone was going nuts! It had been over 25 years since it had snowed here and people were in shock. We were definitely at a loss since we thought we’d left our “snow days” behind us! It snowed all day and kept snowing into the night! We ended up with about 3 inches of snow and the city pretty much shut down. California drivers can hardly deal with rain so I was glad to see them recognize that driving in snow would be an absolute nightmare.

BEEHIVE/DEACON DANCE

Noah, Charlie and Spencer (Spencer is, as always, the shortest! We keep telling him he’ll grow soon.

He measures himself almost weekly in hopes that the growth spurt will begin soon!)

Every January our Stake puts on a dance for all the Beehives and Deacons (12 and 13 year olds). Last year Spencer went right when we first got here and had a blast. All the Deacons in our ward asked everyone of the Beehives in our ward to dance at least one time. This year was no different. They were perfect gentlemen and the girls reported that they had so much fun and were exhausted by the end of the night! Spencer and his friend Charlie, who is in our ward, invited their friend Noah from school to go too. Noah was a bit hesitant so I told him I would buy him donuts if he would go. He had to ask the girls to dance if he wanted the donuts. He agreed and I ended up buying all the boys donuts. Word got out and some of the other moms bought donuts for their boys and their friends too. Without the donuts the boys still would have had a blast and danced the night a way but it was worth it to get Noah to go with them!

BROOKLYNN’s Baptism

When we first moved to So Cal we were so excited because we were going to be close to so much family. While 2 of Adam’s sisters and his brother as well as my brother all live in So Cal, about an hour from us, my sister lived just 2 1/2 hours north of us. Sadly we got caught up in the business of life and saw them more out of State than we did in state when we went to Canada and Florida. Anyway, they came and visited us twice and we didn’t make it up to see them until the weekend before they moved to Texas, literally. Though we wish we had taken advantage of them being so close, we are glad we were at least able to get up to see them one time before they left. Cute little Brookie Kay was baptized that last weekend in January so we loaded up the kids and headed up to Fres”tucky” (AKA Fres”cotello”) to be there for Brookie’s special day!

Noah and Avery have such a hilarious relationship! Noah is 7 weeks younger than Avery and thay have a Love/Hate relationship. One second they are getting along great and the next one of them would be screaming (usually Noah because Avery kept taking his “SOOS” –pacifier for you Non-Canadian readers). Heather and I had a blast watching them together! It’s so fun to have cousins close in age!

They loved their bath together and then had fun climbing in and out of a large rubbermaid bin! We LOVE these Babies!
