Utah Weekend

In my last entry I promised to update after out weekend trip to Utah! So as promised here is the update! It started out to be quite the "adventure". We originally were going to drive out to Utah but stumbled upon some cheap airfare ($34 one way) so decided to fly! With gas prices and our beastly gas guzzling Suburban we were so excited! We'd get there faster and cheaper! So Wednesday night we arrive at the airport to check in for our 8:35pm flight only to be informed that our flight was delayed some FOUR hours!!!! WHAT???? Apparently there was some bad weather on the east coast where the plane was coming from and it hadn't even taken off yet! So we decided we'd check in and go home! Then the girl at the counter says "we don't suggest you do that because if we happen to find a plane and crew before the other plane gets here, you'll miss your flight". Alright then, we'll stay! So we got dinner with the kids, took our time through security and then sat at our gate for 3 hours! Thankfully the two little boys fell asleep around 10:30 but Spencer and Annie got their second wind and were lucky to board the plane alive! (I was seriously at my end!) So we finally land in SLC at around 2:15ish and go to get our rental car! We had rented two cars for the first day since Adam had to work downtown and I didn't want to have to shuttle him back and forth. When we get to the rental car counter and say "we have 2 reservations" the guy says "you have two?" I say "Yes." He says "but there are only 4 of you" to which I say "actually there are 6 of us and (at this point I am extremely annoyed) why does it matter how many cars we've reserved? My husband is here on business, I'm here on pleasure, we need two cars. Here are my confirmation numbers. Thank you!" The guy was less than helpful but finally after about 20 minutes we had both cars and were on our way to our "reserved" hotel. Before I tell the next part of this adventure I need to preface with the fact that I called the hotel when I found out our flight was delayed and said, "Please don't give our rooms away (we had two reserved). Our flight is delayed and we won't be there until about 3am" The girl assured me they wouldn't and said she'd leave a note for the night clerk. So we get to the hotel, I go in to check in and the guy says, very shocked to see me and with the 'o crap' sound in his voice, "You have a reservation?" Turns out, he got the note from the girl, didn't believe that we would ever show up so he gave our rooms away! AHHHHHHH!!! So the end of my story actually was the best part of the night when he said "I'm soooooo sorry! Let me call the Marriott down the street and we will pay for you to stay there!" Haleluiah! The Marriott had a suite for us and we got to stay there for FREE! We figured out that in the time it took us to leave our house and finally get to bed, we could have driven it faster! I finally fell into bed at 4:22am Thursday Morning! (I had been up for about 25 minutes shy of 24 hours since I woke up at 4:45 am Wednesday to workout. I was EXHAUSTED!)

Anyway, the next morning Adam headed off to work in the Downtown office while the kids and I headed to the Armstrongs to pick up McRae and Ty! (The Armstrongs are our best friends who lived directly across the street from us here in CO until about 2 years ago when they moved. Their two boys are the exact same ages as Spencer and Garett and they are the best of pals!) Once we picked up the boys it was none stop fun! We went back to our hotel and swam for about 2 hours, then changed, checked out and headed off to McDonalds for lunch. The kids played and played! Then we headed to the movies to see "Surf's Up" (totally cute movie). The kids had a blast together! It made us miss the Armstrongs even more! We loved having them across the street!

These two are so close it's hard to tell! McRae looks a tidbit taller but his hair was a bit "puffy" on the top from swimming. After examining this picture the boys decided they were exactly the same height!

After dropping the boys off with their Grandma (she was babysitting for the week while Kerry and Mindy were in Hawaii on vacation) the kids and I headed downtown to meet Adam at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. We took the kids to see the movie about Joseph Smith that is playing there! It was AWESOME and all four kids loved learning more about our beloved prophet, his hardships, his faith and his life! We definately recommend it to everyone!

Finally at the end of the day we headed down to Provo to stay in the Provo Marriott with all our cousins! Friday morning we took the kids swimming, up to BYU for lunch and a stop at the bookstore. It was so weird to be at the Wilkenson Center at this time of year as it was crawling with Youth attending EFY. Seeing the counselors was even more strange as I was one of them 11 years ago! So many fun memories! Time sure does fly!

After the book store we headed back to the hotel to meet up with the dads who'd been golfing and then got ready for Grandma's big 80th Birthday Party! It was so fun to be with cousins and loved ones to celebrate our wonderful Grandma/Gongie! Saturday morning the reunion festivities resumed with a family golf tournament, family pictures and a picnic!

These are my two cousins who are closest to my age! We couldn't remember the last time all three of us were together! Amy Woolery is in pink. She and I have always been really close! I LOVE hanging out with her! We always laugh our heads off when we're together! Shae Taylor is in blue! She is just 27 days younger than me. We were roommates at BYU our freshman year and then lived next to eachother until we both got married. It was soooo fun to see her again. She and her cute family live in AZ and until this past January when we met for lunch while I was there for Adam's company event, I hadn't seen her in 10 years!! It w as fun to catch up!

My husband is truly an AMAZING father!! He's the kind that works hard but plays even harder! He LOVES to be with our kids! He is always spending time with them, making up games with them and laughing with them! I am such a lucky woman to have a husband who is not just a fabulous husband who loves me but who is also a fabulous father who loves our children! Happy Father's Day Babe! I Love You!

Another wonderful Father in my life is my own dad!! He has always been someone I love, admire and look up to! He has taught me so many things. From basketball to Golf to the Gospel! I love him so much! Happy Fathers Day dad!! Granddad is one of Logan's most favorite people! He NEVER falls asleep snuggling anyone but on our last night snuggles right in and was out!


Though we weren't with him this weekend I need to pay tribute to my my Father in law! He is also a wonderful Father who has had a great influence on my life! He and I have always had a special bond, even before Adam and I were married! One of my favorite things about him is how special he makes everyone he knows feel about themselves. He has an individual relationship with each of his friends and family. You know that Greg loves you just be being around him!! Happy Father's Day Papa!!

It was a quick weekend but definately a fun one!
Our flight home on Sunday morning was on time! Thank goodness!!!
